Foundations of Plant Medicine offers a deep dive into nature's sacred gift of medicine for emotional, mental and spiritual health. We will explore the basic science of the subtle body, and the relationship between plant medicinals such as food, essential oils, flower essences, herbs and homeopathic remedies. During this course, you will cultivate a unique relationship with the plant of your choice. You will also study and integrate the Flower Essence Society's Twelve Windows of Plant Perception as you engage with your sacred plant's medicinal properties through observation, research, art, and active imagination.
Foundations of Plant Medicine meets for five 2.5 hour interactive live Zoom classes and includes an online student forum for class readings, discussions, and assignments. Together, we will explore:
An overview of the history of flower essence therapy, from ancient times to present
Plant medicinals in mythology, archetypes, and sacred texts
The role of botanical families in flower essence analysis, presented by Richard Katz of the Flower Essence Society
Strategies to access plant consciousness through active imagination and creative expression
Perspectives within the growing field of Ecological Psychology, and how these principles align with Indigenous and Diasporic relationships with the natural world
Research methodologies to study plant medicine that honor Indigenous and Diasporic worldviews
Personal ways to maintain a spiritual connection to nature in our modern, tech-driven society
